Sand Clowd

I changed my 90L tank's substrate from gravel to sand tonight and was wondering when i can turn everything back on and if i can put my plants in yet.
It is a little clowdy still, but i can see the back of the tank. i washed each bit of sand atleast 8 times before putting it into the tank.

I have no fish as of yesterday but have had the tank going since until i had to change the substrate.
So just wondering what to do

must have taken you a long time.

you could perform a large water change, that would really help (as long as you don't disturb the sand when you put the new water back in).

Switch on everything and it should settle over night.

If not do a 80-90% water change

Make sure you tip the water on to a bowl or plate.

Mine did the same unfortunately. A few hours to settle and a full water change sorted it completely.

As above, pour the water back in onto something, not directly onto the sand, and you should get away with not making anymore mess in the new water.

Switch your filter off while you do it (Or leave it running in a bucket of tank water) and leave it for up to an hour to re-settle before putting the filter back in and turning on. I ended up vaccing the sand after too, as there were a few bits of plants etc on the bottom when i was done.

By the time you've done the above, you water should be crystal clear again.

I have just converted my small tank to sand from gravel and i syphoned the water into the tank using the hose from my gravel vac, if you do this for a large water change you will end up with nice clear water.

thank you all i think i will try and turn it on for the night as it is 11:40pm here and am going to bed soon and don't want to leave my filter off for that long.
