More than 13-15idogs and cats are euthanized in shelters each year. Millions more are abandoned in rural and urban areas. and more r abonded in cities.
:(
great danes r the most put to sleep dog.

Approximately 61% of all dogs entering shelters are destroyed

Approximately 75% of all cats entering shelters are destroyed

one of the biggest causes is people not neutering pets., another cause is inhumane care of pets(police have found dogs and cats put into bags and thrown in closets or people bury there puppies or kittens. also many people let there dogs roam free and they get run over, attacked by other dogs, or poisoned by people sick of ur pet in there yard. my cat got poisoned and died cuz my neihbor tried to poison my dog, but the cat got there first. :( what can u do about? it cant be stoped from happening. all u can do is give donations to shelters. hopefully someday there percentage put to sleep will lessin.

www.danerescue.org has that guy who used to be robin on that old batman show. He now runs a dane rescue. I got my dane from the pound. She was in with her brother and sister. They are put to sleep because people don't know how big they get and there is less of a demand in shelters for big dogs. The reason my Belle was in the pound was because she was taken away from the owners because she was so skinny. The people said they couldn't afford to feed them all. They had bred two danes and they died and they were stuck with the puppies. She was 10 months when I got her and was only 40lbs!!! She should have been at least 80!!!!!

It is a sad thing that life seems so -disposable- in the world today.
I'm not in the mindset of getting your pets fixed and if you don't you are a bad person. But, I do believe it is up to the owner to properly contain every single animal they have.
Alot of people get puppies and kittens because they are so darned cute- then when they see how much time and money it requires to properly care for them- they dump them. It might be a free to good home- but it isnt a free to home animal.
I believe that when you get a pet- you get them for life. You dont NEED pets- so don't get one if you can't keep it. :fun:
When meeting new people- i see how they treat their animals-if they do a crapo job of it, and are abusive- I normally talk them outta the animals then stop talking to them.
