I decided to go to my favourite LFS wildwoods water garden in north London. Got a big shock. There was a poster saying the store is closing down. This shop meant so much to me and the hobby that i love so much. I have so many memories in there. This is a big loss to all the fish keepers in north London and the surrounding area. Wildwoods thank you for everything that you have done for the hobby.

Will be a big gap once gone.

Are there any others near you?

Their are other stores but its just not the same. You know that LFS that is your go to. Where your hobby grew around. This was it. I guess in going to look around.

I used to go to a store in Bethnal Green every time I found myself in London. That wasn't often, but I liked the place. It also closed in the last couple of years.
London is such an immense, wonderful city, but it's tough on aquarium stores.

Yes London is very tough on aquarium stores. When one shuts down its sad. The store you are talking about is wholesale tropicals. That closed after nearly 50 years. Same with wildwoods over 40 years.

On a plus note went back today spoke to the guys and some of these people have found jobs in other fish stores. I was very happy for them. As a parting gift they sold me a display tank and a stand. They added in the sand and the fish.

It was shell dweller neolamprologus multifasciatus. Always wanted to keep them. I had some ocean rock left over from previously broken down tank. Added it altogether. Now i have these little fascinating species.

I started with six Multies on December 3. Now I have around 30 fish ranging from fry to juveniles to adults. They are fascinating fish. I love them.

Wildwoods is my local one. Been going there for years, including a few weeks ago. I had no idea about this. Sad news.

Sadly its closing down. Any display tanks are 50% off. Everything else is 35%off. Fish and plants are 50%off. 35% off includes any new tanks, filters, heaters, fish food so on and on. Pop your head in. The lads in there told me it closes in 2 weeks exactly. The store is so busy as i think the word got around about the bargains.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s upkeep costs. Had a few shops my way close due to that. Had the odd one close due to upsizing but that seems to be a rarity nowadays :/
