hi i want to get a school but i change 30 percent fortnightly which should be weekly
i live in the country on tank water so i cant go weekly
but my tank is densely planted so can this be an exception

It also depends upon your filter. What capacity does it have and how big is your tank? Having it planted definitively helps

Mine 55gal use to have a large school, though I currently only have two. Mine have done great with 50% water changes weekly. I have 20ppm of nitrate out of the tap(I am on a well) and it is probably twice that in the tank. They are always out and about with bright red heads . I lost my original school of 8 when this tank crashed and had a massive nitrite spike that claimed a lot of my fish.

I have had issues quarantining these fish. Of the 9 I bought to replace my old school only 2 made it out of quarantine. IDK what was killing them, but they died one by one. They would be eating and look fine then start hanging back not eating and within 24hr would be dead. Antibacterial med had no effect.
