Are the fish ok and any other fish showing the same symtoms.

Hi Wilder the other fish are fine and not showing symptoms

I did a water change yesterday and temp has been raised a couple of notches

Bless him he dosn't look well.
Can you issolate him.
I would try a bacterial med but it could finish him off faster.
How does his eyes look as can't tell in the pic.
I would gradually turn the temp back down to normal setting.

your telling me I love this fish hes a stunner. so sad to see his demise and its been so quick and unexpected

I can't isolate him unfortunately I've got stuff in all my tanks wich are not compatible with each other and my spare is now brackish!!

cheers Wilder I've appreciated your help on mypost

I can see a white patch near his fin area. If he's not rubbing himself I would take the bacterial route.

Did you treat it for an internal bacterial infection over the last few days?

The fish hasn't been hanging out next to the heater has it? It looks a bit like a burn, but could also be a bacterial infection. If you didn't treat it for an internal infection, then perhaps start now.

well almost 2 weeks since my original post hes still around and although he still looks abit ragged his whole demeanour is much better. Less frantic breathing and hes moving around normally etc

I've been treating with myxazin and the white patch by the dorsal has not spread and looks like it may be healing, his dorsal fin is a bit ragged but his body colour is back to the normal colour.

I really didn't expect him to last this long and fngers crossed hes on the mend

Colin hes not been near the heater that I have seen

If the myxazin is working the patch could of been columnaris.
Add some pimafix with the myxazin.
Glad there some improvement.

Cheers Wilder I shall get some tomorrow morning when I'm free! I'm delighted he is getting this far so anything that will help him survive is greatly appreciated!!

Let us know he gets on bless him.
Good Luck.

I took these tonight

the patch that was fading/wasting away has regrown but darker now

The myxazin not strong enough and it coming back.
You really need antibiotics to treat in isolation.
If the mark was fading and healing for abit it does sound bacterial.

I lost 3 Flash Plecs and a Royal to what looks just like this ages ago - exact same symptoms - nice and fat but breathing heavy, sitting still and 'patches' - later ragged edges to fins too. I'd say certainly bacterial and myxacin didn't work for me :-(

Is there any redness to any of his fins that is not normally there? If so septacaemia could be setting in. I think this is what finished mine off - internal bacterial infection. (the white poo could also indicate this)

If you can get antibiotics then I reckon that would be ideal, if not then try a course of internal bacteria meds if the myxacin is no longer working.
