My tap water has unacceptable levels of ammonia ( 3mg/l) sometimes higher. I was woundering if an RO unit removes ammonia. I have been told both Yes an No from different people at the LFS.

As far as I'm aware RO will remove 99%+ of all contaminants so whats left will be negliable.

But if you use RO water you will also have to use additives to stabalise the pH ....

And have space to run and store the RO water ...

:)

:) Hi Mike, yes is the answer to your question, but if you don't use alot of water or don't want to buy an RO, use a product called "Ammonia Detox" made by Kent.

It does what it says and also neutralizes chlorine and chloramine. ;) Mac.
