Right: Confession Time

A not yet but usually get soaked when cleaning them out.
B Each time I do a water change I usually miss the bucket at least once.
C not done yet although I do tend to leave my boys tanks too long between water changes and their tanks are flourishing (plant life and healthy fish) and mine has dead plants all the time and frequent bouts of whitespot?
D Yes accidentally with guppies, started with a few and had a fry explosion and had to get another tank.
E Bought a red tailed shark, told was ok in community tank, but it ate tiger barbs!
F Not done as I get all my stuff second hand
G Not got rid of fish, I am the sucker that takes everyone elses unwanted fish lol

Other things, hum.... Electric shocking yourself with dodgy equimpment. Not fun if you aren't expecting it, but strangely enjoyable if you are expecting it... erm... Breaking heaters by not switching them off before waterchanging aswell....

All the best

I've done that too Rabbut, not turned the heater off. Done it twice in fact. You would think after so many years one would learn a few lessons, but noooo

A) I hate Magnum 350’s. I have had two, I think one went out the backdoor, the other is destined to go away when I find it. Set them up right, set them up wrong, no matter how you set them up they spew.

B) Never was unlucky enough to do the living room, but have soaked myself, the basement, electrical devices (one with a bad ground, that was interesting), the dogs, you name it.

C) I torture test filters, this requires running them until they choke. I’ve missed water changes on fry tanks due to other life situations and lost spawns.

D) I breed for fun & very little profit, overstocking is a big part of it.

E) Not intentionally, usually. Breeding kribs in the same tank with danios, corys & an angel worked, even with krib fry. Out of the blue the kribs got an attitude, after a few spawns. Corys got the worst of it, but survived.

F) I don’t want to talk about importing discus a few years back. Let’s just say experience can be a harsh lesson.

G) Refer to F, I had my fill, not so much bored as I felt the fish were laughing at me.

Just a few days ago I set up a ro unit, had the ro water trickling into a bucket. Fell asleep on the couch, woke up at 3am, just in time to find a small creek starting in the fishroom.

BTW, don't try grabbing a heater that is not submersed to see if you remembered to unplug it. Hot wet heaters make a really odd sizzling sound when they hit wet skin.

Hmmmm......... let me see

A) (Thanks Rabbut for helping!!) but you didn't know the full story, We did actually put the top of the External Filter on the wrong way round, COMPLETELY soaking the carpet, also we did not Prime the filter (which was the cause of the strange gurgling noises) lol Good job Eheim filters are built to last (surprised we didn't destroy it completely)

B) On occasion (well not me, my partner lol)

C) Cant remember the rest, but yes and no in no particular order lol

I do enough lengthy posts - if I started on this, I'd be going on forever, lol.
But it certainly helps to hear that others aren't perfect either.

Oh, I've done those too. Broken 3 great visitherms :(. Now I have the Jagers so that doesn't happen...
Sometimes I really hate "Resun" heaters for the electric shocks, gotta wonder what the fish feel  . And when the equipment I was using wasnt dodgy, it's because I frequently forget to dry my hands before unplugging things! Am I going to die unplugging a filter!?

Now that you mention it - I've done that too! It's easy to see how fish burn themselves on heaters.

What's the worst thing you've done then? :p

I, like Mel, feel silly realising all the stupid things I've done! Need someone to do worse to make myself feel better :shifty: .

Who else has been hurt by a fish? I've picked up corys out of nets so they dont get tangled when I lift them out, only to be jabbed by a fin and have my finger or sometimes whole had swell up .

It hurts .

oh man! I have over stocked and stocked things that dont go together...i still stock things that dont go togethr if i dont have problems...... But i also had a fish jump out of my tank and onto my laptop, i didnt notice it......closed my laptop. Next time i used my laptop i found my gourami......

That just made my day!

I was hurt by a Debauwi catfish once. They aren't big, but it panicked in the net and its dorsal pierced the joint on my finger and it swelled up really bad and I couldn't bend it. The pain was intolerable. I had that for about 6 weeks, even had to speak to specialist vets etc. but nobody could help. It was something I had to ride. Still have the scar to prove it! Madness!

I will do hun. So far I've only set up the cabinet, put the sand in the tank and set up the filter PROPERLY lol, so nothing to see as yet.

I will take pics of that then as I add the decor and water and fish I will take a few more pics. I know some people take pics from the start, but I find pics of dismantled bits of cabinet a bit boring lol, so I am going to abstain ;)

I've spilt tank water on the electrical sockets while trying to scoop water from the 35L tank.
Some people would say I'm currently overstocking and stocking incompatibly at present, but it's working for me.
I've more than a few times spent way too much on stuff, but never seem to get round to selling it somehow (so I don't get back even half what I paid LOL).

I also made the daft mistake that a small tank would be nice and easy to look after.... £60+ for the tank (not to mention the additional extras) and stand and it was running for less than a few months
