Can I mix a couple Minnows with a couple Fancy Guppies in the 5 gallon?

I don't see why not only the male fancy guppies might get there fins nipped at iff there is not enough food.

i would go with puffs, there so kool, i wish i had a 5 gallon with alot of puffs

Minnows wouldn't nip at the Guppies tails, they are a peaceful fish. Personally, I wouldn't keep either in that size tank as it's a little small.
I would go with a dwarf puffer, loads of character and cute little faces!

I have a 34 ltr fry/endlers tank which, when the fry have been moved on and the endlers have been transfered, I will be looking for alternative lodgers.

Don't want a betta but these dwarf puffers have got my attention

So, exactly how many D-Puffers in a well cycled 34ltr (7 and a bit galls) tank?

White Clouds are a no no for anything less then 30g because they are so active. How about a Betta.

I have five betta fish and my parents wont let me get anymore. I will try to get my mom to let me get a Dwarf Puffer because they are adorible but the only petstore I know that caries puffers only has salt water puffers. I will look around though.

Puff daddy Im glad it works for you but your stocking advise with dwarf puffers contradicts this pinned topic. I would never advise anyone to keep dp in a large group as they can be extremely aggressive. If it works for you great but dont I wouldnt advise others to keep dwarf puffers in large groups.

Hey Doresy, in a 7 gal I'd put 2, maybe 3. Most of what you read will say at least 3gal per puffer, so really 2 is the optimum number, but you may get away with 3. Just try to have only 1 male and 1-2 females.
