well weather you did do reasearch or not the only thing that matters now is the health and welfare of these 2 fish and the other fish in bream kings tank.

Ugh. How can it be hard to find? Just search "bettas" or "betta splendens" okay? How can you NOT find anything good to use? And like practically all employees at lfs are total idiots.

Don't forget Siamese Fighting fish. The article on Wikipedia probably has a ton of facts.

i went to this big fish centre and the assistant actually breeds bettas and he said male betta's usually like a whole tank to themselves with a couple of females and quiet fish like neon tetra and so on...

wisperin the tank is 60 ltr biorb, i had 6 tetra but all died except 1 .
nope, dont do research i ask the assistant's at the shop i usually use but he didnt have any bettas so i went to another place... WHICH i wont be goin again if he tells peeps the wrong info..

Honestly, a tank that size is really tiny for a shark and I reccomend either getting a MUCH larger tank or returning the bala shark.

Like the others have been saying - seperate him!

I've only had a betta for two weeks with practically no research and I know that you don't put males together or with others!

There are plenty of small tanks on sale in different stores that are realy cheap that he would be happy in.

They are tropical fish, you can get little heaters from a couple of websites and ebay for about £7.99 that do the trick.

I don't think it would do too much damage without for a little while.

Can i just add, doesnt red gills usaually mean ammonia? or just stress?

I got a plastic 2.5 gallon tank for £4.99, so they are quite cheap, also i have no heater because the weather is rather warm and its stayin at a steady 74.

2X SCISSOR TAILS
1X NEON TETRE
4X WHITE CLOUDS
2X CHERRY BARBS
2X BLACK WIDDOWS

What to do:

Bring the shark back to the fish store
Bring the neon back to the fish store, as they need to be in groups.

SEPARATE THE BETTAS. Leave only one of them in there for god's sakes, PLEASE, take either the female or the male out. Put the betta in a bowl, it's okay as long as it's half a gallon or larger. That is 2 litres, or 2 quarts. Normally I would only reccomend a gallon, but those bettas are in danger, and you need to separate them. They will be okay in a half gallon. They do not need a filter. They do not need a cycled tank. All a betta needs is some clean water and some food. Good luck.

I know i've found conflicting things on pretty much every fish, and infact, everything i've researched. Google isn't the be all and end all. And just because it's on a website, doesn't make it true.
Part of the reason to join a forum, so you can talk to people, and hopefully not get abused.

And the people working in fish shops should know their stuff, they certainly act and talk like they do, so sadly, some people will believe what they say.
In my experience, no sales person, in any store, anywhere, has a whit of knowledge, they just want to make as many sales as possible. Sadly, some people will be learning this with fish.

And with young kids, as someone buying this with their pocket money probably is, it's also up to the parents to make sure that the info they have is correct, part of the responsibility of parenthood. Again, no reason to abuse the youngster.

I got bettatalk, healthybetta, bcbetta, and bettadreams for the first four... I don't know about the ones farther down as I haven't taken the time to read through them all.
