HI, i've previously used Mopani wood in my old tanks, an i know this and driftwood/bogwood lowers PH a little. Does Redmoor wood lower PH slightly too? is there any information anywhere of which wood lowers PH more than others?

thanks,
adam

I guess you'd just have to try it. There is a wonderful post with picures somewhere in the early years of TFF about lots of types of wood but I don't think it compares pH change. My completely off the cuff thought would be that heavier, darker woods like bogwood that give off a lot of tannins would perhaps be also the ones that lower pH a lot (as opposed to lighter, drier looking driftwood, for instance) but I don't know that for sure.

they may have a little effect, at first. but water tends to sort itself out, returning to the original PH. though how much you have, will also have an effect. either way, the change will be too small to affect your fish. fish are nowhere near as sensitive as, many, think.
