Red Spotted Severum Sex

i was in my lfs toady when i spotted this severum and i had to buy him any idea of the sex

Male most all red spots are male. He has the markings on the face.

Virtually impossible to sex red spots visually.

i've done a bit of research and it looks like hamfist is correct very difficult to sex red spots ,i'm not planing on breeding so it doesn't really matter i just like to know what sex they are.
i suppose the only other way would be to vent ,would you be able to tell from venting the fish is approx 3.5 inches long
