Thanks, i'm expecting the new filter by Mon at the latest (crossed fingers for this morning!) so with the water changes and the new filter which will give me 10x turnover I should be ok. Thanks for putting my mind at rest a bit!

i should think you will be OK
if you can try and get some
mature media from some one else
instead of splitting it from your old
filter and run new and old at the same time
side beside

The media will be from another filter that's running at the moment on a different tank, not the old media from the old filter. I don't want to go into a complete cycle!

Well, my new filter arrived earlier so that's up and running with 1/2 new media and 1/3 of the media from the other tank's filter. 50% water change done so I'mm monitor the stats and fish and hopefully they'll start picking up a bit now.
