Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a new heater for my Fluval Edge 23L/5G.

I currently don't have any stock, but am planning on a halfmoon betta with a cherry red shrimp very soon.

I currently have a 25W fluval heater, which is give me readings between 70-78F (around 7F lower than it should). I put this heat loss down to my slightly colder than the average flat, and due to the time of year.

So I need an adjustable heater that's capable of giving me high 80s. With this capability it should mean I'll be able to achieve a stable 80F even in colder periods.

As well as the above, I'd love for it to have a sleek design, in-keeping with the clean cut appearance of the tank. I do love the plain black look of the fluval heaters (shame it can't perform!).

I've found this one, which has fair reviews, although I'm not overly fussed on it's appearance.

I have a budget of up to £25 GBP for the heater. If I could get some recommendations that fit my criteria that would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I can't edit my original post for some reason.

I've been doing a bit of research, Jager's look great, but being a fluval edge, I'm going to add the criteria of it being Fully Submersible.

I thought all aquarium heaters were fully submersible? What's the point of a water heater that heats the air? Dunno.

Anyway, I've always used the AquaOne range of heaters, never had an issue in either tank. If your current 25W heater isn't man enough, then go for something like a 50W, if it will physically fit in.

Apologies, I read some incorrect information about a Jager heater that requires the top of it to be positioned out of the water.

After spending literally hours looking for one, I think I'm going to go with this idea:

Compact heater from Hong Kong which hides in the filter.

I was going to say Fluval make a slimline heater designed for the Edge tanks. The downside is they are pre-set to a temperature of 24oC and can't be changed.

Looks like you found one anyway .

Yeh that's the one I have now.

To be honest it surprises me a little. It's designed for 5 Gallon odd tanks so it would seem it was made for the Fluval Edge 23L/5, yet the heater is nearly 30cm long! It's the one I have at the moment which is not performing so great.

Yeh I used to have that heater in my 46L Fluval Edge before I realised it wasn't a high enough wattage

. Also I didn't know it was pre-set, what's the point of having it pre-set?!? I flogged it after a few days and bought an Interpet one instead :D.
