My EBJD is approx 7" and still growing, albeit very slowly. 8" is the norm for the electric blue strain, with normal JD's getting to 10" max, obviously females of the species are slightly smaller. Jack Dempseys are truely magnificent fish, i don't understand how people can call them dull and boring. Often people judge them by their juvi colours, if anything JD's are beautifull juvis and grow into bigger juvis. So this idea on JD's i have no idea how it came about.

Unless i've missed it i havnt seen a tank size mentioned. It goes without saying that these are big fish, with the Texas' getting bigger than the JD's (i believe), and they recommend JD's be kept in 180L per specimen, although i have a breeding pair in a 180L with tankmates just fine. Albeit i'm currently upgrading to a 280L just for the two of them.

When you get time i'd love to see some more pics of your JD as mentioned earlier :)
