Really Annoyed At Tropheus

All it does is go up and down, up and down, up and down in one corner of the tank nearly 24-7

He swims up to the surface, then down to the bottom, hitting the substrate then back up to the surface turns to the left for a split second then down he goes and repeats the whole thing time after time. I look in without going in the room and he's still doing it. (Looking at my signature photo it's the front left corner)

Any idea what this behaviour is and if it will ever stop.

hehe i used to have a fish which did that for about six months and gave up suddenly one day, much like forest gump gave up run suddenly,hehe

it sounds like the fish is acting out of character because it is the only one of its kind in the tank, similar to tetras acting unusually aggressive when they don't have a shoal to swim with.

Tropheus are a true colony species and clearly act much more naturally when they are kept in groups of 10 or more, Although adding another 3 may be enough to stop it from doing this, a ratio of 1:3 will work

That sounds feesable. I was told eith get 1 or a shoal and as he was £30 a shoal was out of the question! Anyone got some going cheap 'cos he's driving me crazy with his behaviour
