Re-Start-Ish

Right my tank has had some MAJOR algae issues, its been covered, ever since i put the java moss in. So Im going to do a brand new start thing, take all the fish out, CLEAN EVERYTHING. Put water back in, a few days later put fish back in and do a fish in-cycle. Will take sponges from a "clean" tank to start it up faster.

tank is - 220l
Light is on for - about 8 hours a day.

Any advice, or should i try i black out, i got some help for the weekend so i will be doing it then,

Oh, the whole tank is live plants, i will be trimming them, all leaves cut of, then replacing them into the tank.

Is this a good idea?

tank water quality is perfect though, i can;t understand why it is sooo green =(.

The water is clear,

Filtration is fine, it was clean for months until i put the java moss in.

The algea is hairy, green and brown, and green blotches

How many watts of light are over your tank? and what type of lights are they? (T8's or T5's?)

I think the are T5, theres a blue one and a white one, =P

Green Spot Algae, GSA

and a sort of green hair aglea, only grows one some plants though.

That'll be a lack of flow then, you could ideally do with a bigger external filter capable of 1200-1800 plh
