How often do you guys do water changes. I have been told that with Juwel filters you dont need to do regular water changes as they are multi stage filters. I am confused.com as i have been reading some posts on here that ppl do water changes every week. Sorry for sounding dim but after reading,talking to ppl everyone have there own way. I have a 96L Juwel rekord with 8 platys 8 guppies 1 sucker loach and 4 assasin snails. How often do you think i should be doing water changes and what percentage. Think i should give up after posting this.

Me personally, i would be doing between 10 and 20% a week. You could get away with doing 10 litres a week (just over 10%) which would keep the parameters constant and the water looking healthy along with the fish being happy.

I have a juwel 120 liter tank, once every 2 weeks I change just over 25liters (about 25%). Every time I do a water change I clean the filters in the old tank water to get rid of all the dirt on them. I haven't had a problem and I've done it like that for almost 4 years, never had any form of chemical spike and I hope not to

Hi, I don't know about Jewel filters, but I change about 20% a week. You could use a test kit to find out what your water quality is like and monitor it over time to see what kind of water changes would be right for your tank, but I would generally assume that weekly water changes of some level would be helpful to keep things on track. Don't give up!

The quality of the filter doesn't affect the need for water changes. Nitrate will build up depending on how many fish you have and how much you feed them. There are also hundreds of other things that we can't measure that build up too. The only way to remove these is by water changes. Water changes also replace the trace minerals that get used up by the fish and plants. Unless you have a very heavily planted tank, you can use the nitrate measurementas a guide to estimate how often and how much water to change.

I do weekly 25% water changes.
