Was thinking bout getting an external filter but I was just wondering do u have to put holes in ur tank for pipes or is there another way of doing it?

Most standard hoods comes with holes in them at the appropriate positions and most external filters are supplied with tubing and plastic elbow connectors to to rig your inlets and outlets through these holes. If not, they can be bought seperately in customised lengths to engineer your piping over the top of your aquarium.
