Question About Ph

Just a quick one,

my pH is at 6.4 which is low ( ? )


I want to raise it but my gH is at 16, I understand the two are connected, if I raise the pH to 7.5 will it make the gH too high ? and how do I go about raising the pH ?

any help greatly appreciated

I have the same problem - the ph out of my faucet is 8.0, and my tank changes it to less than 6.0. (I think it's because of the bogwood and carbon at night for the plants ...) The fish store I spoke with suggested adding about a teaspoon of salt for every 10 gallons of water to raise it ... but I don't feel comfortable adding salt to the aquarium because of the plants ...
