Anyone ever had a dog that doesn't like to play with other dogs? My pug x King Charles will still not play with other dogs and its now a good 18 months old. It quite happily barks at them on the tv and when they're at the other side of fences and such but always get's scared by them when face to face. it normally ends up with my dog jumping on my lap or running around with the tail between it's leg.
It's met with a Staffy X Boxer which is a real softy and even when it bounds about not making any contact with the dog she gets scared and runs off. Also tried it with a springer pup wich was smaller than her by a bit and it was still scared.

It's fine with people which is the main thing but when my family all have dogs playing with each other pugsy is a pain in the #14### as we either cant take her with us when visisting or she has to stay ina seperate room.

Hi,

are you able to tell me more about your little one:

Have you had her since a pup, if so or if not, please tell age acquired.

Has she a dubious history, (i.e. bad owner), if you did not get her from a pup.

If you "purchased" her, what was her original home environment like? Other dogs etc.

How have you personally tried socialising her; from the start, from getting her, and if so, when and how.

Has she ever been bullied by other dogs.

Has she ever been "bowled over", (knocked down), by another dog, even in play.

Have you "removed" her from other dogs if you thought play was too rough, if so, please explain.

How is she when you leave her for periods of time?

Is she an only dog?

Where does she sleep at night?

Does she appear to "dream", i.e. does she make noises as if chasing rabbits in her sleep?

:good:

Hi,

are you able to tell me more about your little one:

Have you had her since a pup, if so or if not, please tell age acquired. Yeh had her since she was 8 weeks or whatever it is when you can first get them

Has she a dubious history, (i.e. bad owner), if you did not get her from a pup. Owner was nice and friendly

If you "purchased" her, what was her original home environment like? Other dogs etc. She was last to go from her litter of 6, when we picked her up just her and her mum the king charles

How have you personally tried socialising her; from the start, from getting her, and if so, when and how. yup , right from the start i took her to see my mums patterdale terrier , then she's been allowed to see other dogs on walk

Has she ever been bullied by other dogs. not really , when out on walks if a big dog comes over she's sits down or runs around my legs to get away

Has she ever been "bowled over", (knocked down), by another dog, even in play. My mums patterdale pinned her down once but didn't bite her or anythings

Have you "removed" her from other dogs if you thought play was too rough, if so, please explain. yup when my sisters staffy and my brother lab x springer are playing because they're much bigger and and tend to bite each other , only play biting where they dont actually bite if you know what i mean

How is she when you leave her for periods of time? she get's left for 3-4 hours in the day and at night
Is she an only dog? unfortuantly so, would love another but mrs wont let me

Where does she sleep at night? Originally in the kitchen as she wouldnt stay in her bed in the living room and kept getting on the sofa, now she;'s in the living room as she'll sleep in her bed

Does she appear to "dream", i.e. does she make noises as if chasing rabbits in her sleep? nope doesnt dream much, strangely enough though when we were on the beach not long ago there were some sheep there which musta got out of the field and she bolted after them chased them back to their field before actually coming back. Definatly not scared then!

:good:

Some dogs are real play freaks, others are more reserved. In may ways they are as individual as humans. Some people are the sort that like to play sports, others like less physical pastimes, such as collecting stamps, or....um... aquatics!

This sounds similar to my female terrier. The two younger boys will play like boys, she doesn't want any contact with other dogs as far as play, doesn't mess with toys, if anything barking at the boys when they get too rough. Yours sounds like a perfectly healthy dog, just as individual as any other.
