Problems With Using Sand!

Thanks everyone, can you all explain the best way to clean it ,is it to just hover the vac over the sand [how high]?

I hover anywhere between an inch and a cm. It depends. Start hovering an inch above the sand and see if it sucks the stuff up. If it doesn't move a bit closer. You can make little swirly motions with the end of the vac which sort of lifts the poop up and then it'll get sucked up.

Also, if you're syphoning into a bucket then after you've tipped the water away, any sand that's in the bottom just put back in the tank. Easy peasy (much more difficult when you use a hose directly onto the garden like I do lol  )

Thanks all,yes i`m not impressed with petsat home `s sand it cost £8.50 to fill my 28l,and every time i do a water change [although i`ve only done it twice]it clouds the tank up.

When doing a water change try not to stir the water to much or it will kick up the sand. Keep the siphon high in the water if its just a simple water change. If your trying to suck up the fish waste keep the siphon just high enough so it doesn't stir up the sand too much. When your adding water add it very slowly so the sand doesn't get sucked into the whirlpool.
