a few water changes will get rid of the yellow from the wood...you may find it leaches more of this yellow stuff (tannins).

it is looking good though...and some tall vallis (a long thin plant) will complement the wood

Looking good PrincessCoral!

I love this post!! The best journal i've seen in a long time!
I would definatly agree about avoiding the neons with Angel fish though. When they get super big they take most things smaller than them.

By the way - it's great to see you love High School Musical!! It's a guilty pleasure of mine aswell!

Best of luck with the tank and make sure you keep us all updated.

Hi Princess Coral, I have just found your journal, nanny has got you off to a good start.

Some Angels and corries like their water temperature quite a bit different. Angels like warmer water and alot of corries like cooler water.

There are some that are ok though, ask nanny to help you have a look. Check the temperatures for sterbai, they may be ok. Sorry having trouble remembering, been in saltwater for too long now.

Look forward to seeing your fishes when you get them.

sterbai and schultzie are good with angels due to the higher temps (28)

More bad news for Angelfish plans I'm afraid. If you add Male Guppies (the ones with the fancy tails) sub-adult or adult angels will almost certainly pull the tails off. Neons and Angels can work if you add the Neons first and grow the Angels on with them. Don't up the Neon's numbers once the Angels are in though... The Angels get used to you opening the lid and adding food, so when you open the lid and add a bag of new Neons to float and match temperatures, while you are thinking the Neons look lovely, the Angels are thinking they look like a tasty treat and start to tuck into their meal once the bag opens and they swim out

A very good start you've made there I must say

All the best

PrincessCoral and princessBB have gone home now  but Princesscoral took some photos she wanted uploaded before you left

New filter pads - she is currently running a fluval in the tank as I didn't have any pads for the juwel filter. I will put them in for her today and continue to run the fluval.

Princesscoral has also put in some sand from zipzap's tank, but we had to put them in containers (didn't have any tights!) as she doesn't like the colour of the sand

Thanks for the info on Angels Rabbut, so she will need to put in the guppies and cardinal tetras first :good:

good info about temp. :good: I had forgotten different types of cories like different temps. ekkkkk what about green and gold lasers, was going to see if PrincessCoral liked them ( I have always liked them  )?

I'm sure Zipzap will let princessCoral update soon :good:

Timmy, thank you for your comments - PrincessCoral will love them :good:

Tina, Rabbut and Truck - thank you so much for helping and supporting PrincessCoral with her first tank :good:

no probs seffie...its nice to see young people getting into this hobby early on because they are really enthuistic to learn...and it gives them a bit of a head start for subjects at school such as science.

Right, this is where I have to own up to having made a complete boob

Princesscoral doesn't know this, so when she reads this she is going to be

I had a bag of aragonite sitting around and Princesscoral liked the colour, I never even thought about the ph

I have spoken to Truck who recommends taking out all the sand and replacing it with play sand omg, can you imagine the mess, let alone play sand is exactly the colour she didn't want, oh heck, help me out here please, has anyone got any suggestions?

:fish:

as you know Princess coral wants to keep a pair of angels, some tetras, guppys and corys, bet you are going to say they like softish water!

seffie...you can pick up some cheap gravel these days...and some other sands as well. might be worth looking online

or you could PM aaronnorth and ask him if you can make it inert (so it wont change the water conditions)

Thanks Truck, it's not the cost, it's the blooming mess  but see what you mean about the colour, I am just dreading taking it all out

Seffie x

ps i will investigate making it inert, cheers

Silver sand isn't far off coral gravel/argonite sand if you can get it in a heavier grade and is innert

Add the Cardinals first then angels if you want both. I'd strongly advise against angels and male guppies though, as they will nip the guppies in most instances regardless of when they were added. Some individuals are fine with them, but most are not

All the best
