Right ive been using the airstone/airstone since I got my tank 4 months ago, but the noise it makes sometimes gets annoying especially while watching tv. So today I decided to buy a powerhead of ebay because I read that my clown loaches like a bit of water flow. Are they generally quieter? I think my filter creates enough water movement for oxygen exchange so this powerhead will just be used for some movement of water.

Thanks

Airpumps are pretty useless when it comes to increasing oxygen, the only oxygen you get is where the bubbles ripple the surface of the water as it were...

Powerheads are much more useful :) your clownloah will love it!

2nd that ^^

I know for a fact YOUR clown loaches in particular will enjoy a power head

Air stones are really just for visual effect.

How's all your new comers getting on anyway mate?

There doing good Ive got 6 Clown Loaches now and some more cory's, the Angle fish is always watching me which is pretty cool, the krib she is funny to watch as she is looking at places, the catfish is hiding but I see him come out at night and the bleeding heart tetra is making me feel sorry for him/her as it seems lonely so Im going to get some more whenever I can. Not sure if I should get a male krib as Ive looked on here that he can chase the female aggressively. And I think Im near my stock limit for the tank but Im not sure

Glad there all doing good. I miss the angel but my tiger bards would harass him to death.

I think adding a male krib wouldn't be such a good idea as when the breed (and the probably would), they get pretty aggressive. Especially toward bottom dwellers. The clown loach would be able to handle themselves, but your corries would probably take a bit of a beating. There like the 'Tim nice but dim' of the fish world.

And as for stocking your tanK? I'm pretty sure you could squeeze a few more in there  your tanks a monster!

Right my powerheads has been in the tank for 2 hours now and hey I think the clown loaches are loving in. Before they were mostly hiding once they see me in the room but now they only hide if I make sudden movements near the tank and even then they come back out within a minute, even that catfish came out to see what was going on lol. Next two jobs to do now is get some more bleeding heart tetras and get an external filter.

Nice 1 mate, makes all the difference doesn't it? All my fish love the extra flow from my powerhead, especially my tiger barbs.

There's some good external filters being sold on the classified section here, you should take a look, or even post in the wanted section too.
