Love your tank! What kind of substrate is that? Is that just very fine gravel or is it larger grains of sand? I'm going to be using a finer substrate in a 37 I'm setting up so researching my options.

Thanks Larkspur, you have some nice fish and plants in your setup too! The Bettas look lovely

The substrate is ~1cm Dennerle Deponitmix under fine "Congo sand" aquired at Maidenhead Aquatics. Must confess it was the mixture of grain colours that appealed to me at the time of purchase.

Just googled it and I don't see where it is available in my area. I was told I could use playsand I could find at a hardware store, but my LFS guy mentioned that despite the cute kid on the front playing in it there is a big label on the bottom that says, "May cause cancer." Haha. I guess I'll look at sand options and avoid the mentioned cancer-causing one.

How can I improve it? Anyone have any suggestions?

my ornatipinnis tank..looks exsactly the same, minus the two adults

pin N pricks little tank...dwarf puffers

Blueie the cray fish and yorkie the chocolate cichlids home n bazil the bristlenose plec<last of my babies

In this tank is the odds and sods..2 colombian tetra/6 barbs/1 senegal birchir/1 halfband eel/1 electric yellow cichlid and one unknown dwarf plec

Looking at the photos, my tank is the worst xD.
How can I improve it? Anyone have any suggestions?

Not the worst now...look at mine

Lawrence,

I think you should have your driftwood off center maybe and definitely more plants! I don't think it looks bad. It just needs more plants. But this is all a matter of opinion.

100 gal Im always moving stuff in here because I take it out all the time to clean the wood. Im fighting some Black algea.

Yea I moved my wood towards the side, leaning against the glass. It looks ALOT better. But I need to get more plants, the others have all slowly died Is it because I keep the plants bundled up wrapped in tht foam and metal when you buy it?

Thanks All the tanks on here look really nice and thanks Lawrence it has really helped this topic what to do with my next new setup & your tank is really nice and just add some more colour plants.

chigwellhammer, did you pickup your new tank yet i bet you got some more ideas now on how to setup now I will give you a tip its best to mix in a white and blue light tube and it really brings out the colours in all the fish. Including my blue socolofi that seriously looks like a marine fish with.

Nelly is that the dwarf puffer tank where you kept your blockhead cichlid?
Does it have a lid because likely to jump out easily

Yes that was were he was growing up,no i have a lid,i was just feeding and setting up..he wasnt in there then
