I asked my brother about the insurance thing and the insurance company actually went through "Comet" for the reimbursement/replacement.
He was offered either a replacement TV of the same specifications or closely match and if it could not be matched a new one, or to be given Vouchers to buy a TV at comet. This was all after the technician had confirmed that the TV having a big crack from one side to the other wasn't repairable.
