I bought a Pleco about a month ago. He is approximately 5-6" long. The girl at the shop didn't know for sure, but I think it is a common Plec. I will post a pic. First off the Pleco would try to hang out in my Polka Dot Pictus cave. The Pictus would squabble about until he left. I figured the Pleco deserved his own cave too and I was getting ready to re-scape the tank anyhow. I took the Pictus cave and moved it to the other side of the tank and put a new cave where that one was. It didn't work. Now they are literally fighting over that same cave that I moved. I have seen the Pictus get a good hold on the Plecos fin and have seen the Pleco get a good sucker hold on him as well. I don't see any damage to either but imagine this is stressful for them and it's freaking me out ! I have also seen the Pleco try to latch onto my Tinfoil Barbs.

I can only think of 2 options. If someone has experienced this, I appreciate any input.

A. Take the Pleco back.
B. Remove the cave they are fighting over and add a couple more.

rearrange the whole tank is a good idea. Add more caves for sure as well as more plants and just other things to hide out around. Try taking the one they fight over out would be a good idea it would be worth trying. They might just not like each other. and they might never get along but give it a try.

IF that is your pleco in the photo it does not look like a common pleco. It could be but it looks like it might be something different. Do you have any other photos.

Thank you. Yes, that is the Pleco. I will try to get some better pics !
