Dumbest Fish

I always used to refer to the peppers as the labradors of the fish world. Always wagging their tails, always (appearing) happy, and always exploring whatever was going on.
I'm currently on an MTS mission in my community tank, which now has bronze cories. This means sticking my hands in every night. Now they have learnt the routine it only takes seconds before I have a flock of cories sucking on my fingers.
Naaawwww! They really are so cute!! I spend A LOT of time just sitting on the floor (mainly because my eyes aren't that good any more. Lol), watching and sometimes interacting with them. They know I'm there. They watch me too - I was wearing a hoodie the other day and they freaked out and hid at the back of their temporary tub. I took the hood off my head and they all came back. 🤪
They're pretty excellent water condition barometers, as well..... Their behaviour is different depending on the parameters.
One little fella (called Dash) is the "safety officer", and he will flit back and forth across the front of the tub and up to just under the surface in the corners. IDK - it's just the way he does it that makes me feel something is not right.... Sure enough, I tested the water with API freshwater Master Test kit, and the ammonia was at the highest level! It really shouldn't be possible for it to get that high that quickly - it happened three times in a row, and I was doing 25% water changes daily. I'm now doing closer to 40%, and make sure the water temp is as close as possible to the same as the tub to minimise stress, and they seem to like it - they get happy as soon as I have finished replacing what I removed.
They are in the tub because I HAVE to eradicate this stupid Ick, and it's a full time job. I have to do a partial water change each day while medicating with Blue Planet Multi treatment, which means that there is no way the filters etc will cycle properly, which results in ammonia spikes, regardless of how little, how much and what I feed them. Thank goodness they have taken a break from spawning!
I am in the process of setting up and cycling a 210 litre tank for them and my 4 kuhlis and 3 remaining green tetras while I'm treating them all for Ich.
Anyways, here's a picture of them telling me to feed them last night! Enjoy!!

A parasitic/fungal medicine that will kill off your BB colony? That doesn't sound good. Is there anything else you can use?
Maybe it's the acriflavine that's the issue, I've never had issues using meth blue or malachite green where it would effect a biological filter.
