Plec Or Corys In Breeding Tank?

Quick question,

I had a thought to get a brislenose plec, or some corys to put in my discus breeding tank to help mop up the last of the food. I love them, so would play a benefit too.

BUT, will they bother the spawning discus at all? What about when (if) i get fry?

I know some will tell me to clean it myself, and i do that every day (50% water change daily) but i like plecs and corys, so figured it would be a nice addition if all goes well.

C. sterbai is a beautiful species of cory that does well in the warmer water conditions than most of the others can tolerate. They are often kept with discus and I've never heard any complaints about them bothering them during spawning.

Agreed, i have some great sterbai in my main tank. I would be adding these to a BB tank which i have seen before, but never during breeding. I wondered if a plec would latch onto the cone and upset the parents/eat the eggs?

I don't know if plecos tend to be big egg eaters but, while I wouldn't call them aggressive, they do tend to assert themselves when they want something. Even bristlenose plecos will thrash around and drive other fish away.

My primary concern with keeping plecos in a breeding tank would be with sanitation and the possibility of ending up with fry in a tank with less then pristine conditions. With a pleco you will have both large amounts of waste being produced and vegetables deteriorating in the water. This just doesn't seem idea for difficult to raise fish like discus.
