My in-wall 75 is heavily planted and it has an Eheim Canister and an Aquaclear 300 (aka 70) on it and power compact lighting I is stocked with purple emperor tetras (Inpaichthys kerri), 3 super red BN (all females) and an assortment of corys to include albino and regular Osteogaster aenea, a few black Osteogaster schultzei, a few Hoplisoma oiapoquense and, a few high-fin Hoplisoma paleatum. It also has about 25 Amano shrimp and assassin snails.
I know some of the corys have been s[awning as I have one black Osteogaster schultzei that managed to be born and survive there. I have also noticed spawning activity from albino aenea recently. But almost on eggs manage to even hatch in that tank. Today I notice three of them doing something in the top front right of the tank where the silicone connects a side glass to the front glass. I was curious and went over to the tank to look. What they were doing was eating eggs stuck there. They were on the small side for cory eggs and I have no clue to whom they belonged, They were a;; gone into the stomachs of the albinos pretty fast.
And this is why any species I want to have spawn so I can get fry from them are always kept in a species tank. I can tell when corys are spawning so if I need to pull eggs all I need is a chance to do so. In the 75 I almost never get to see the eggs only that they are acting spawnerish. I have a tank with cw111 but they are always out of sight except for feeding time and I have not seen any sign of spawning.
