Playing Chasey

A couple of my fish chase each other around the tank a couple of times a day, is this a normal thing to happen?

However, I have 4 mollies in my tank... 2 black and 2 silver...

One of the silver mollies chases the other one NON STOP around the tank and it's really starting to annoy me. I have isolated it in a breeding trap for it to calm down for a while but it just goes on chasing the other one around the tank and nipping it all the time.

It's a 240 litre tank so big enough to accomodate them.

Why does this silly molly chase the other one CONSTANTLY!

(I have 2 angels, 2 gourami, 2 platy and the 4 mollies.)

Fish do like to chase each other around, It might have just taken a dis liking to the other, maybe its randy mandy

What sex are you're mollies?,its possibly the male trying to mate...

My males are always hounding the females

The males do this to eat the fry and be first to mate with the female to ensure his line carrys on

I had to male mollies and one chased the other constantly nipping at him underneath. They drove me insane. My tank is so calm with all the other fish except those two. I finally took them to the LFS and she put them in with a couple females... guess what? Stupid fish still chases the other one like an idiot. I check on the when I go to the LFS

this isn't really about fish but dogs. Do you really have 5 German shepherds as in the photos??? They are gorgeous

What sex are the mollies?

If you have an even mix of males and females, it could be males chasing to mate. Having more females (at least 2 females per male, ideally more) will reduce chasing and reduce the stress on the girls.

Hope you got the problem sorted though.

Yes I really do have 5 German Shepherds. FOr the moment at any rate. One of them is sold and I'm just waiting for the guy to get home from Iraq But.. even so, I have two females that will be bred in the spring so I could end up with more
