Fish will show these signs when the tanks not cycled.

Darting, erratic swimming.
Flicking and rubbing.
Excess slime, or trailing mucas on fins, gills, body.
Red gills, pale gills, lilac gills.
Laboured breathing, or gasping at surface of tank.
Red streaking.
Swim bladder problems.
Turning up side down, or spinning in circles.
Fish will look pale.
Clamped fins.
Greyish film on fish.

Thanks! That helps a lot! :)

I just went to the fish store today and they squeezed out a sponge filter into a bag for me to pour into my aquarium to help give it a bacterial boost! Hopefully it works! I just added in a bit to start, and will add in more later if needed :)

If there's any bacteria in the bag with the squeezing, it needs to be treated the same way as fish. So it's better to add it all at once as soon as you are home. Leaving it in the bag will kill it.

How are the fry? :)

The fry seem to be doing well :3 they've claimed the little plastic bush as their home haha, they hardly ever come out of it :p

So, something odd... I just took a look at my fish and one of my platies has a single white spot (hard to see, it's very light) on the right side of her head o_O it doesn't look like ich... but it looks kind of soft? It's pretty transparent... It wasn't there earlier today. Any idea of what it might be?

Does it look like a tiny clear air bubble?

OK.
Have you tested your water today?

:good:

Thank goodness.
If you have any more problems don't hesitate on posting on your thread.

:( Hmm... My platies are still clamping their fins...
and now all of my fish are flashing... I'm not sure of what's going on D: I'm really worried..
I just did a water test and I have:
0 Ammonia
0 Nitrate (weird that it's 0 now)
0 Nitrite
and my pH is 7.2

They don't have anything on their bodies, nothing at all. I even shined a flash light on them to make sure.
I'm really confused :(
One of my guppies is acting super lethargic and just lays on anything he can find... I have him beside me in a fish bowl right now because the other fish were poking at him... I'm scared he's going to die :(
Could there be a parasite in my tank that I just can't see on my fish?

Signs of parasites are
Tiny white spots on body, or fins.
Yellow golden spots on fish, rusty coloured varnish, brown velvet patches, the fish looks like it has been dusted in gold dust.
Red inflamed gills, pale gills with excess slime.
Greyish film on body,.
Grey bluish film on fish body.
Opaque body with excess slime.
Visable parasites on the body, or fins.
Tiny red pin prick marks on body, or fins.
Flicking and rubbing, darting, laboured breathing, gasping at surface of tank.

Thank you :) That list will help me a lot!
The only thing I've noticed is flicking, rubbing and darting. I've been examining their bodies but I don't see any of those other signs...
Do you think I should buy some anti-parasite medicated fish food for them?

Two of my platies are still clamping their fins now and then, as well as hiding... it seems to get worse at night, but then they get better in the morning and will come out of hiding for a bit. They're also eating well and I fed them all some peas.
Pretty much all of them are rubbing against things though. :( Not very vigorously, they'll just rub against something and continue swimming.
My water parameters are still fine so it must be parasites of some sort...

The guppy I was worried about passed away last night after struggling to hang on for hours :'( poor guy was a true fighter... but he passed away very peacefully. We made sure he was comfortable :(

Bless Him.
:rip:

Has any of the fish lost weight, or look thin?
What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet?
Do any of your fish show signs of a sunken in belly?
Lost any fish to a curved spine?
Are you using liquid test kits?

:')

Nope, none of my fish look thin, they've all stayed the same size : )
Just the other day they're poop was extremely healthy, but now some of their poop (not all of them) looks a little off (white and thin), but I am feeding them peas.
I have not lost any fish with curved spines.
And yes, I'm currently using the API master test kit :)

OK.
Just needed to rule out internal parasites as they can sometimes flick and rub, also show sign of darting.

All you can do now is just keep a close eye out for signs of external parasites.
