hi everyone,

had my tank for nearly 3 months now it is a 96 litre tank, fully stocked. I have decided i don't like the look of my plastic plants and want to change over to real plants.how would i go about doing this? I don't want to change the substrate.

would i just take out all the fake plants/decor, but leave the fish and water in the tank and then add the live plants?

thanks everyone.

Hi, smart move :good:

Probably wont have to change the substrate......what is it BTW?

Yes, leave the fish and water in but do remove the fakes and plant the real ones in a slow motion to lessen the stress to the fish. Wash the plants under running water, rubbing broad leaves between thumb and forefinger to remove snail eggs.

If you don't want to go the co2 route then use a good fertilizer and biological carbon. My recomendations are Flourish Fertilizer and Florish Excel

Oh and do a before and after photo for our comments (we like that :hey: )

i have recently done the very same thing myself basicly all i did was 1 by 1 take out a plastic and replace with a real and used liquid food . have had good success with elodea densa and cambomba this way . a good place go would be the plants and planted tanks section of the forums the plant experts are there
