Just bought 3 plants for our fluval edge we now have 3 real and 3 fake, they came with like a type of cotton wool with a metal strip around. Should this be removed?

You should remove this and gently push the plant into the substrate removing the wool will alow the roots to spread and the plant grow quicker. Hope this helps

Leaving the wool on is not a problem as it is a good nutrient supply but not as good as your substrate they put it on because they don't usally have substrate in there plant tank at shops and it just helps them keep bunches seperate :)

There's a good video on Youtube about planting, I'll try find it for you.
