What you see though little betta in cups at stores is temporly housing the fish usually fly off the shelves and at the very very most spend a week in them. I'd get at last a 2 gal tank for your little betta so that he can be comfortable I have mine in an overside glass cookie jar (the kind you buy at walmart) he seems very comfortable and has enough room to swim and move around. Once you get rid of thoughs loches though you'll have room enough to fix up your school. You listed a few species of schooling type fish I'd always put them in a group of at least 6. Once you've fixed that up you've got yourself a really nice tank! :)

I couple of response female betta need to be keep like tiger barbs IMO in larger groups of at least four that way aggression is evenly distubted throughout the tank.

Khuli loaches do not clean sand. Trust me I have three and they just play in and hid all day. Corries are the only ones that might do a bit of cleaning but like all scavengers in a tank enviroment they also need to get feed extra on the side.

Algae is cause typicall by two much light (green algae) or not enough light (brown algae) as long as you don't leave your light on for more than 8 hours a day and no less than 6 hours a day you'll be fine :)

can anyone host my picture please just have the two 800x 600

so corys will be ok on there own to keep the sand clean

anythink else i can add

would of liked a few shrimps

algea i was told by my mate the bn catfish will make sure your tank stay very clean

See honestly I don't like pleco they eat way to much when they get older they stop cleaning your tank and they take up space that could be used for more interesting fish that's why I got with a school of otos they love algea to the day they die and take up alot less space and are very cute.

By the way you will still have to vacume your tank once a week. I just do it when I'm water change. Sand will get dirty no matter what you put in the tank but its not much work at all to vacume it.

what are otos???

never heard of them

can anyone host my pictures please as u will be able to give me advice better with my pictures up

oh sorry for coming over as rude
thanks for the advice so far

What I think pica_nuttalli meant with the BNs was that in a tank of your size, there is not enough algae to feed them. Plus other fish are likely to eat anything you put in for them.
Oh, otos are a smallish type of algae eater. Look on the fish index or do a goolge search, the only thing is they can be a bit fragile.

ok thanks can i keep then with say one or two bn catfish

i feed them algea tabs

guess no body is going to host my picture, would be grateful if some one could

yes, cories would be just fine to get any excess food off your sand.

you would only need ONE bristlenose to keep algae under control. even then i don't think any of the plecos would be right for your tank because you want a tank that requires minimal cleaning. plecos do eat a lot, but only because it takes a lot more food for an equivalent amount of nourishment. plecos have rather inefficient digestive systems, so most of what they eat just comes straight out the other end! if you want a tank with a minimal amount of fish poo lying around, get rid of the plecos.

a really good algae eater is the otocinclus. they max out at about 2.5 inches and will eat a much wider variety of algae than the bristlenose. otos are also schooling fish and would be happiest in a school of 3 or more. i suggest you replace your bristlenoses with otos.

whatever algae eater you own, you are going to need to feed them algae tablets. if there's not enough algae in the tank for you to notice it, then there's not enough algae to support your algae eaters. you'll have to supplement their diet.

i'd get 2~3 more cory cats of the exact same species you already have. most cories won't school except with their own species. i'd also get 3~4 more glowlight tetras.

the only way to have an aquarium that is just sparkling-clean is by performing regular maintenance. try to get into a habit of vacuuming the substrate once (or twice) a week. doing larger percent water changes will also help keep things really nice; the minimum amount is 10%. you'd do best if you changed about 20~30% of your water once a week. dunk your filter material in the removed tank water and shake the gunk off. this will keep the filtration rate optimal, but still preserve most of your beneficial bacteria.

a good rule of thumb is that the more pristine an aquarium looks, the more times a week it gets maintained.

heh, i can see why you'd have trouble believing that you're creeping up on being overcrowded. once you bring the sizes of your schools up to speed and add more plants, you should see a vast difference. glad to see the divider between the sand and gravel sections! otherwise the sand would just take over the whole bottom portion quickly.

here's the order to handle this:
  • [1] replace bristlenoses with otos
    [2] add plants
    [3] add glowlights
    [4] add cories
    [5] add female bettas
[6] ask again about what might do well in your tank
sound good?

do u think the divider will work ...

also a lot of fish hide under the rock( 22 kgs that weight granite from the lakes)

so the tank looks like there nowt in it most of the time....

think ill keep one bn catfish get rid of two.....

one bristlenose sounds good.

the hiding under the rock is inevitable for the clown loaches, but everyone else should spend a lot less time there once you've got plants in your tank.

bn catfish hide under it too and some times the black tail

what plants and fish do u reckon after seeing the photos

get java fern or java moss or any type of amazon like amazon sword.
i got amazon sword and is growning quite good.
java fern and java moss are easy to look after all you have to do is pop 3 plants food tablets in every week you can buy them from any pet store, and your plants will shoot up.

going to get rid of the large bn catfish been trying to catch it for the last 40mins can i hell catch it....
