Well I was at the LFS today and he has had these in for a while and I really wanted them but was a bit undecided but they were the last two and my 10g was set up and cycled so I thought what the hell Ill get them and grow them on see how they do and then either move them on or put them into my main tank Ill see how they do. Obviously I want to do the latter so far they are doing pretty good got some new plants which are currently in the 10g but had to order more off the net for my show tank - I spent far to much money on fish today luls.

Anyways here they are

Not named yet, they are about an inch and a half or maybe just a bit under and scrawny as anything. Nothing a bit of live food never fixed though Really hope they grow quick

How they settling in?

they seem to be doing pretty well so far gave them some blood worms last night about 8pm and when the lights went off they were still wriggling around on the sand but they were gone this morning. I think I have 2 males as neither of them have the female spots on the dorsal fins, though they are pretty small and neither has fully extended their dorsal fin for me yet.

I really like them just want them to grow quickly ha ha Ive seen some vids on youtube of them and they do get to a decent size considering they are called a dwarf. Most people get adults so not been able to ask anyone how fast they will grow but if adults are usually available I would guess they dont take that long but we will see

Also I was trying to work it out last night, am I the only one on this forum with pikes? I cant think of anyone else who keeps them.

I think that Peter22uk, used to keep a pike cichlid, but not sure it was a dwarf, other than that, cant think off hand who has kept them.

yes pete has a beautiful white pike cichlid,but think hes either selling or sold it.....

also juanveldez i swear still has some had a cobra and belly crawler/ Frenata/...

Jayjay had a nice beefy pike..

there was some more but cant remember,,,over on another popular forum there is a big following of pike cichlid keepers..

Just got in from work tonight and I cant believe how active they are, swimming all over the place. Great little fish so far really happy with them.

Looks like they might take a while to grow though. I found someones diary of some C.Compressiceps and it took them a year to go from 1 inch to 3 inches but it didnt say what they were being fed or if they were breeding. Hopefully on a high protien diet and no breeding they should start to bulk out in a few months.
