Just got him/her from a local breeder last Tuesday. Any idea as to how old and what it's sex is, or is it too early to differentiate yet? Also, will it keep the same colouring as a adult? All the pics are taken outside a cave that I made for it. The last picture captures the pleco's true colouring the best! Thanks for looking.
Its hard to tell yet whether it is male or female. At about 2 inches long males will grow little bristles that will get bigger as the fish gets bigger. I also notice that the ones that turn out to be female are more likely to be wandering around the tank whereas the young males are more likely to be staying relatively quiet and in a cave so to speak.
My pleco is about 1.5" now, so it won't be long before I'm certain of its sex.
It does tend to move around a lot and not spend too much time in one certain place, and I can't see any signs of bristles, so the pleco might just be a she!
