Cheers James :) Hope your pH gets back to normal!

Oh right, I thought you said "If peat slugs bring down pH 7.8" I thought you were referring to your own pH and bringing it down with peat slugs!

Yeah what I meant by test was very very very very very very very gradually change the pH...! :fun: i'm not sure. I'll see how the bogwood affects it as it matures for some months yet anyway (thats if my nitrites ever come down)!

Not cheap, but a CO2 system would lower the pH and feed any real plants. For example, the pH in my tank has dropped from 8.1 to 7.8 within 24 hours of adding a Dennerle 300 system at 30 bubbles a minute.

No probs dude!

Kaivalagi, I've got two U4's in there which provide plenty of surface agitation. Honestly, I don't need more oxygen to benefit the fish. I just wanted an air stone rising from under some rocks or something, I like that in tanks when I see it.

I can happily say its back down to what it was, the fish are fine and seem happy :)

Can I just ask, is a pH of like 6-6.2 okay? I know it restricts the fish I can have like all Common Livebearers and Rainbowfish etc.
But is there any other ways in which it is negative?

Thanks, James.

Not sure, put all your current and future fish into aqadvisor.com to see what their pH requirements are

Im kinda staying away from aqadviser at the minute, its messes my computer up. But other sources I have used recommend that 6 will be okay for most and 6.5 is recommended for others.

Got some cobbles from B&Q a few days ago. Only a tenner for a nice big bag!

Give them a good wash, and now they are a nice addition to the tank. They have not affected pH at all either.

The downside is I don't see my shark anymore! :)
