PH question

Thanks wolf, I feel so stupid now, but when I saw 'use R/O water I though it might be some kind of bottled water used in America and not heard of here. :S

Seeing your post again reminds me, I'm gonna add to it again cos I really think the Mods should pin it.

Maidenhead Aquatics sell RO water in 25 litre containers which I used to successfully lower the PH and soften my water. They charge about £10 for the first 25 litres (a security on the container) but after the initial charge, so long as you return the container each time, it is £3.50 per 25 litres :)

Some may argue that buying bottled water is a false economy, and that it might be worth investing in an RO unit. I decided aginst this, since I do not exactly need permanently soft water (mine is a community tank, not a sensitive species tank) I only needed to soften the water a little.
