I have always used liquid test kits which show my discus show tank having a PH of 6.0 (lowest on the scale). I dont add anything to the water, but i know my substrate and CO2 lower PH for the plants.
I just got through my electronic PH tester. My breeding tanks show 6.0 to 6.5 (i use a 6.5 buffer on them), and my show tank is showing 4.0!!! I have discus, rams, cardinals and corys. All have been fine and seem fine. But is this too low? I know some discus like 5.5 to breed, but 4.0 is something else haha! This is after calibration BTW.
