Petco Selling Betta Fry Now

No one ever said it was right. I'm only getting to save it, the same reason i occasionally pick up bettas from there. Us boycotting won't do anything but give them less chance of a happy life because no matter what, not enough people will care and still buy from them, thus supporting it. So, why not do what we can to change one bettas life? Thats my opinion is all

I have no issue with the rescue of them! I support that, if I had room for a few more tanks I would do the same. I'm merely stating that Petco has to realize what they are doing is wrong

It really is no different than the cichlid juvies you buy, or the 2 inch tiger oscars. By the time the babies are at the size that I have seen them sold, they are able to eat and grow just like any juvenile fish.

For the record, Petco is not a bad store. I have many healthy fish that I have bought from them and I will continue to buy from them as every fish I have bought for the most part is still alive. The death rate from a chain store is no different than the death rate from a breeder or hole in the wall fishstore. Rather and ***** about it, be glad you have the knowledge to know that it is a baby fish that will need some extra TLC. Rescue one. Or report it. All these threads lead to is flaming and possible suits against the site.

If you feel that strongly that it is wrong, take it to the manager of the store, or write an email to their corporate office. Don't slander the chain here on the site because of one store. My Petco is great.

My petco is also great. Very knowledgeable staff (most times). Not the best selection of fish and sometimes have quite a few deadies in the tanks, but I've gotten all my fish from either a petco or a petsmart, and although a few of my fish have had issues, the majority have been great! :D

I'm not the biggest fan of Petco, I find petsmart takes better care and has healthier ones!

Apparently ( i read this some where) that petsmart over with you guys is pets at home over here apparently the name was changed for some reason ????

Poor fry, I bet many don't make it as they're probably bought on a whim by people who have no idea how to take proper care of them.
Glad I've never seen them for sale over here

PetSmart is not P@H. I just went to the Yahoo finance site to read up on them. (the stock symbol you use is PETM) They operate in the US and Canada and do run pet hospitals under the Banfield name as well as pet shops but they do not have anything outside North America. I have also seen claims that they were somehow associated with Petco which is also not true. Petco is a privately owned company, not a publicly owned company like PetSmart.

This was my whole point, then somehow it turned into petco slander. I understand there are a few good fishkeepers like us on the forum that would buy it and do the right thing, however I feel that is a small percentage of all people. Would you give a 6 week old puppy to a 6 year old? no
