Perserverance - Together (In Peace) @ Last

It took some doing and many attempts in different tanks, but finally thanks in part to an Oscar who doesnt like being stressed out
they are living in harmony. Proof is here.

Initially I put Vinny back in with Tigger (Oscar), Vinny & Tigger immediately started liplocking and for a few hours it didnt look like it was gonna work, I turned the lights out and when I came down in the morning, Vinny, Yes Vinny had won that battle (I think he strapped a pair on overnight ) to the point that he was harrassing Tigger badly. SO, I felt it was time to try Harry again, as soon as Harry went into the tank, Vinny was at him, badly, had him cornered and was really going for it, until Harry managed to free himself, then Vinny swim away so fast since then, Harry tried to dominate Tigger, eventually Tigger said, enough is enough and took control, put Harry in his place (Harry really is a wuss) so Harry tried to keep chasing Vinny, Tigger got in the way of that and on several occassions really went for Harry to make him stop, for the last 24 hours all is calm, all his quiet, how long this peace will last, time will tell but for now, Im pleased I kept trying to get Harry and Vinny together, it was always the dream to have them both in the same tank, living happily together.

Yes lots of telling off on my part, I dont expect them ever to be bosom buddies, but co-existing is fine for me

happy days!!!! seems that hopefully now that vinny has grown a pair and manned up a bit that they have sorted out who is the big then they can all co-exist together . btw hos the kribs and golden nugget doing ?

The kribs spawned twice I think, no hope of eggs surviving though, the ghost knife has those pretty sharpish, the pair had a falling out a few weeks ago, but seem to have made up

Rhino the gold nugget is a happy chappy, has his own cave and often sits watching the goings on and is out and about scooching up and down the glass at night time

Finger wagging and shouting does work, the amount of times I go "Baaaaaiiiiillllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey NO, naughty fishy" my hubby thinks I am barmy

It's so nice seeing those fish in a tank together, great stuff!

Fingers crossed they stay well behaved...even if you might need to wag your finger at them from time to time

So how long did it take for them to sort it out? Was it a day or 2? I want to try and get my true parrot and severum together but they don't make it easy.

That's very cool that you got them together it gives me hope.

About 6 days from adding Harry to the tank, they will still chase each other occassionally, but nothing aggressive. But Ive tried it several times over the last 6/7 weeks and each time its failed as the aggression was too much, it was a case of allowing one fish to settle in, then add the next and let them sort out their differences, then add the next and again wait. The main aggro remains between Vinny and the Oscar Tigger, who will still stare each other down and occassionally liplock, but in the end both decide its not worth the stress and back away

Sounds good. You might be the cichlid whisperer . I only tried 2 times to get mine together. I will have try a few more times it's just a pain Netting fish you know.
