Peat In Filter ?

Does this method actually work to reduce PH and hardness. I have a 400 litre tank . PH is currently 7.5 and I would like to get down to 6.5. How much peat would i need to add to my external filters and how often would it need replacing???

Any good places to get it from ??.

I wouldn't put peat actually in the filter; it can lead to ph swings and is messy. You'd be better off doing something like this; peat filtering and then using the water for water changes.
