hi, i really like peacock bass, but im not sure if my tank would be big enough for one, i like all the cichla species so any would be ok, im not sure if the different species vary in max size?
my tank is 7 foot long 30" wide and 26" high containing 284 gallons, just over 1000 litres.
all my other fish are or will be of a reasonable size?
no bother if not but i just wanted to find out,
cheers, Dave

not sure bout the answer to your question but they are stunning fish to see feeding etc my only concern would be if they proved too much competition for your rays food?

yeah i know what you meen about the competition with the rays, but i already feed loads so my method would be feed the hungry big fish 1st like the arowana, tigerfish and the bass if i got one, hopefully get them all on pellets, then feed the rays and bichirs after once the big ones have fed. If you get what im saying? Does anyone know if any would fit in?

I wouldn't do it to be honest, there eating machines, i sold my 2 at 9"-10" or so because nothing else could compete for food. No matter how much you feed they eat until theres food spilling out of their mouth (literaly).
They can be pretty aggresive also but i think less so with age, they eat less with age too so it could work if you get some sizeable ones.
