I've had my 3 pearl gourami (PG) for about 6 weeks or so now in a community tank. They've always been very shy and hidden around the back of the tank, but swimming around more and more once they settled. They seem to love being behind the bogwood root that I have.

Today I've fed the fish some frozen bloodworm and one of the PG which is appears to be larger than the others has taken offence to the food resting in his little space. He's so far attacked the other 2 PG's, guppies, apistogramma barlowi, albino shark and my male betta.

Have I done something wrong, has it got too territorial maybe, or is there conflict between the types of fish I have? I just want to avoid any casualties if at all possible from any mistake I may have made!

I read conflicting information on if PG's and the apistogramma were a good mix together, but until now they have been great together and had no issues.

Thanks in advance

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier.  You may have 2 male Pearls?  Pearl Gouramis are usually much more tame than Three Spots, Blues, Opalines, etc.  If you have more than 1 male it's possible that there's some serious tension between 2 of them.  However some folks have said that their Pearls were beasts, although that hasn't been my experience...............

I think that this must have been a one off because they have all kissed and made up again! I have a funny feeling that I have 1 male and 2 females because I didn't realise that the red spot develops over time.

Yup, the reddish orange chest area as well as the longer dorsal and anal fin fringes.  Their body shapes are quite a bit different as well.  Feel free to post some pictures and I'll try my best to confirm what you have.
