Don't you just find it extremely annoying / irritating when small preteens gets a thrill from seeing your fish dart about against the glass and ornaments when they tap against your glass.

Normally, I ignore this and hope the parents will at least pick up on my body language that I do not approve (and reprimand their cute little Brats), but I've since noticed that even some adults think it is adorable when their spoilt offspring enjoys the dillema of my fish.

I've now decided to take the law into my own hands and any damn little monster that dares touch the tank with their stickey hands for any reason whatsoever, will get a clip on the head in the presence of his parents....if they don't like it, they can leave him at home or better still, visit someone else...

Setup an outdoor pond with some silver dollars and put signs up everywhere saying - WARNING - PIRHANA TANK. Then stick a plank out into the middle of it and make the little so-and-so's walk down it. Just remember to keep a few pair of kids trousers handy, they'll likely need a new pair once you've made them walk the plank.

Or have a word with the kids parents and tell them they're scaring the fish s**tless, they probably know no different.

Yes it is annoying, Ive taught my little one from an early age, he's not to touch the tanks or run around in front of them. When we go to any fish store and he see's anyone touching them, he walks up and tells them it scares the fish and to stop!!! Hes only 3

Actually tapping on the tank when feeding is an old breeding trick to sell more fish. The fish get conditioned to the tapping meaning chow time. You sell fish to a shop, kids tap on the tank. Fish rush to the top front thinking it's time to eat, kids get thrilled, parents often buy fish. More fish sold means more fish ordered.

Just another case of there being more to breeding fish than breeding.

Yeah, it's kinda cool, bettas can be trained for that easily. But I see your point, Ludwig, you can get impatient. Just keep asking the parents to tell their kids to stop and eventually...If they persist, kick em out on their behinds

Right, of course, meth and speed work just as well. Pot, I don't know. Just kidding, of course, but somedays my mum will say it's the parents who neeed the spanking, and she's right!

well at home i dont mind them doing it,they dont bang or knock- they have never felt the need to,as my little girl and youngest son have fish theirselves they do a have respect for them,and wouldnt dream of upsetting the fish.I have to say with Jambo,we are all diffrent,he laps up the attention, but we dont bang his glass, we have him follow our fingers across it,and so on, hes an inelligent fish and loves the interaction with us, but having said all this,they never ever touch a tank at the lfs,i think told them once on our first visit and its never needed to be said again, they are not that kind of kids, and i appreciate where Ludwig is coming from.........


one afternoon not feeling well i fell asleep on the sofa,and woke up to find my eldest sons girlfriend putting her fingers IN jambos` tank... oh my blood was boiling,but obviously i didnt want to upset her by telling her off, so u cant magine how pleased i was when suddenly she took her hand out,and screamed that Jambo had bitten her and drawn blood.......................KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUTTA MY TANK!!!
