The title might have got your attention eh? :D
Well with all the diy co2's goin about, back in the day i played paintball have my own gun, yada yada yada. it ran on co2 gas, ive still got the canister, as i dont play anymore gonna get a mate to go down the paintball site who does to get the canister filled,(used to be free) The canisters got a valve on it to allow the gas to flow or stop, so figured its flow is controllable, potential free source of co2.

I do realise the pressure from the canisters gonna be epic compared to a diy system, but ive read about people using fire extinguishers as a co2 source, so should less pressurised than a extinguisher meaning it should be less dangerous.

Got any insight?

you gotta remember there isn't gonna be a Solenoid or any kind of valve on a cannister like that. I wouldn't use it to be fair.

Yeh ,the valve on a paintball CO2 tank is meant to be for ON/OFF purposes not regulation (to degass the marker before ASA removal ...but I'm sure you know that anyway :)) your looking at 800 odd PSI when ON so I wouldn't ever use that valve as Flow control ,I don't know how you would regulate this in an aquarium setup but I certainly wouldn't use the tank as is .

two problems here. first is big. its illegal to fill, and allow canisters (co2 paint ball) off site! second is that CO2, for paint ball, is LIQUID, not compressed. I'd be interested in how you regulate the, gas, at such immense pressure. how much use this is, to others, is moot. as the supply is illegal.
good idea though! :good:

Good idea? first time for everything :D Im sure other people have caught onto it tho.
Gah, cant find the thread anymore, there was a detailed post about making a diy fire extinguisher so i figured if the regulator could work on a fire exstinguisher, why not a paintball canister.
Its illegal now? when i used to play the conversion of using air over co2 was becoming more modern, but was hoping co2 would still be available. Hell, half the fun of goin paintballin was so you could go home and shoot the hell out of each other in the back garden, didnt half give the garden a bit of colour. Gonna see the guy tomorows at footy so can have a chat with him then.
Not too sure what you mean by ASA removal.

You'd get a days worth of c02 out of a paintball cannister, you'll get 6 months out of a fire exstinguisher. Unless your paintball gun is really apaintball tank, it is one of the worst ideas for injectable c02, I have ever heard.

The ASA is the bit where the cannister screws into the gun ,I worded it badly I meant removing from the ASA :), as for it being illegal, that's a new one on me. I've worked at several sites over the years and it has always been down to the site owners discression as anyone can buy any size of CO2 cannister if they want, however any responsible site owner wont fill tanks for you unless he knows you.

Did the rules change ?

Yea thats more like it, but thanks for letting me know the reality of it.
WEll ive got my own canister. so i know for a fact its not illegal to own one, guessing its the taking it off site which'll be illegal, which is the most plausible, well the guy i know goes down every month so should be quite pally with the guy. But if im only going to get a days worth its not worth it.
Although.. i do have 30+ canisters in my garage

yep, my feelings too. but the, last, time i want to get a refill. the guy refused. no charged cannisters allowed to leave the compound. its a firearms offence!!! never looked into it, but i assume both are liable. but the club owner, is. and if ,we, are found with it, so are we. sounds daft. until your car window gets put out, or, a person get tagged. fools always spoil it.
