Two rooms I have tanks in are in desperate need of decoration.
I'll need to use emulsion and gloss.

What are the best things I can do to prevent fumes getting in? I presume filter and air pump off and cover with a blanket with windows open? Or would any of that do more harm than good?

As long as the windows are left open it should be fine, just cover the tank in plastic and then throw a dust sheet over it and paint away

Why turn the filter off? Does it draw in air? Air pump off yes but I don't see why the filter has to go off.

most modern emulsions barely effect the air/atmosphere now days anyway so shouldnt be an issue
