Overstocking Issues

The place: a 20 gallon long



The 'people':
6 x rummynose tetra
6 x lemon tetra
1 x dwarf gourami
6 x skunk cories


The problem: that certainly looks overstocked to me

. Any suggestions, guys? The dwarf gourami's gotta stay (I've been waiting too long to get one!) and I really really want to keep the skunks. So that pretty much means that the tetras are up for switching/changing. I really hate the thought of altering this list since I've been researching and working on it for awhile and love both tetras but it just isn't going to work

If it comes to a choice between lemon or rummynose, I'd want the fish which schools better since I love schooling behavior.

Another option I was considering was getting pygmy cories instead of skunks and still keep everyone on the list...they look a bit like mini-skunk-cories (but that's possibly just me LOL). I've already got habrosus down for my 10 gallon though, and so really wanted a bigger cory...

All ideas, thoughts, and suggetions are welcome.

its not over stocked at all, theres nothing wrong with the stocking.

Agreed also looks good to me I would say you are stocked but not over stocked I think arguably you could maybe add to that

So I really AM just paranoid

Now the issue comes to sand vs. gravel...I know the cories would appreciate sand more but I've never used it so don't really have any idea about it. Is it worth the switch or is it just an unnecessary hassle?

I have never had a big sand aquarium but just set it up in my 65 and I love it the fish do as well they always dig around in it. I think your cories would really appreciate it

I'm going to look into it a bit more but from the looks of things, I'll probably most likely go with sand and make my cories happy

. Silica sand, I'm guessing?

I think you are fully stocked with no problems but I would not add more. When stocking it depends on how much waste a fish makes, temperment, adult size, and Maintance. None of your fish are messy they are all small, all very peaceful. So no problems as long as you keep up with WC it's all good.

whats you filtration like? i just changed to toys r us playsand looks so much better than gravel IMO plus its cheap!

Haha, yeah; that looks fine. ^^; Most tetras don't make huge amounts of waste anyways, so, I would not worry about the bio-load, there. ^^;
