Good job. Are you happy with it? That's the main thing. Would like to do something like this one day but with 4 kids that like to 'inspect' things in am in no doubt it would be on the floor in about 13 seconds after it was done. I really like it.

nice idea. however, i think if i was hoping to delve into the tank as little as possible, i would have gone for fake plants. its just one less area of maintenance you would need to worry about. mind you, guess it depends on how healthy your plants keep.

Hi, We have gone for gravel which pro longs the plant life so hopefully it will work, Not to bothered about changing them as when we do a water change Can change the plants then. Time will tell i suppose. Thanks for ideas.

Hi, dont think my 2 kids would pull this out, I can just about do it, anyway its high up out of reach and when the frame goes on its hard to tell where you can pull it out. In fact this is better than our last tank which was on a cabinet where the kids scratched the tank and messed with it, so i think its child friendly. Thanks

fantastic and credit to you and your husband for having the guts to actually try something different. i have no doubt those runners will hold up. fantastic topic

Hi, thanks lol, the lights are all ready in, they are `Arcadia original tropical lamps. so the colours will stand out in the fish and they promote plant growth.
I cant wait either. My severum is very unhappy in the other tank since we moved it. Dont know how it will get on with yet another move???

Hello,
We are currently in the middle of building an aquarium in the wall of our living room and would like to share it with you, We are nearly there now. Hopefully the end result will be a 4ft plasma/picture on the wall. It has taken some thought in getting it to work, and a lot of hard work gone into it so far. We had to sell our other tank due to it being in the way and no room for our new corner settee, so this was the next best thing. Our fish are currently in the garage in a spare tank waiting for this to be built. The filters will be fed through to the garage (behind tank) and the florescent lights are built in above where the tank will be.
I will upload pics of it from start to finish but we are at the stage now where the steel runners and shelf for the tank are to go in for us to pull it out to clean etc. We are also looking into getting an automatic feeder so we don't have to pull it out everyday, especially with the settee going along the bottom of it. Im wondering weather to go for black gravel or sand for that contemporary look. We are going to get a silver/stainless frame built for it to hide all the edges to give it that picture frame feel. Well we hope you will like it and please comment or send us some ideas to finish it.

We have it up and running with fish in it. All we need now is the frame making which will be within the next few weeks. but its looking good and working fine.

Thanks Matt, Well, good luck if you do end up ripping your wall down, best thing is to build a false wall. Might enter it in the monthly competition once the surround is on. Glad you like it, Let us know if you decide to do something like this, would be nice to see some other built in tanks on here.

looks really good :good: I will just be the bearer of bad news though...the fern looking plant is non aquatic, its a Bourneo fern (Trichomanes javavicum),
From llj
can remain green for months in the aquarium, while the rhizome decays in the substrate, polluting the water without the aquarist even being aware that something is amiss. Eventually, the leaves will blacken and die

why not try some Java fern, the Sev may noy eat that one.

Well its from a tropical fish shop and we had it lots of times, looks nice and ive never noticed the fish go crazy because of it. thanks for your help though.

WOW!!!! what an achievement. Its very nice too see that people can still be original in a hobby that has been around for so long and has many limitations. The bar has been raised very very well done.

Regards

Mark
