Todays update and photos. The Filter, External heater and Airpump are fed through the top as shown in pics through to the garage. So no leads, showing etc. The 2 Lamps are fitted into the roof of the hole, There is no fitted top on this tank, only a clear perspex see through lid that will be placed on the tank. any way, the Black Organic Gravel arrives tomorrow and the plants and fish are waiting in the spare tank in the garage. Bet they cant wait. Just need to sort the auto feeder out next.

Great job. Looks well too. I'm viewing this with my blackberry and as I got a notification to say you added pictures I was making a cup of tea, I was that eager to see your progress that I wasn't looking what I was doing and put coffee into my cup instead of sugar. Then proceeded to drink it. Its not a drink I would recommend by the way.

haha lol, I dont think i will be making one of those, sounds disgusting. Im eager to get the gravel in tomorow when it arrives as well as the plants, My husband David is away with work so the fish won't be going in yet until he is back on the weekend.

Oh well, good things come to those who wait! Im just looking into getting the frame made for it. Hopefully a nice silver steel one or equivalent. Dont want a boring old fashioned wood one.
So probably more pics on the weekend now...

Do you have any other way of accessing the tank apart from the 6 inches it will slide out? From the garage or anything? Sorry if you've already mentioned earlier in the thread, I cant remember.. how are you gunna light the tank?

And coz i'm impatient and cant wait to see the end result.. whats your time scale on having it all finished!?

Hi, yes the lights are fitted into the roof as shown in new pics, and all the filters, heaters air pumps etc are run through the garage and in through the top of the tank so when it slides out the water still runs into the tank without having to move anything We are nearly there now, ive added some pics today and some info.
Thanks

looking good! you'll have to get a sofa at the other end of your room now too so you can sit and look at the tank! lol

Looking Good.

Couple of questions if you don't mind.

How do you access light box?

Can you tell me how you made dead stop at 50% Extention. Is it on aluminium base?

Sorry, just it's quite a project and I love to know how things are done.

Hi, You can access the lights by pulling the tank out half way, If you ever needed to do any repairs on them we would just empty tank into our Tank in garage but i dont think we will be doing that for a while.
There are some stoppers on the runners by just using a larger bolt in the runners. Please note, this tank does not slide out on its own, There is a small leaver where we can pull it out.
The base is Aluminium 6mm and very strong and a thin layer of insulation under it to rest the tank on.
Thanks

Ive ordered the sofa and its a corner one to go under the tank, No other choice really, the tv is at the other end of the room. Cant wait to get sofa though. Im not bothered about looking at tank all day, but it will be nice to see it as you walk through the room.

How are you cycling the tank if your getting fish in so soon? are you using the filter media and water from your matre tank to go into this? :)

Hi, Before we started this we already had a tropical tank with a tetra600 filter media, this is still running in the garage with the fish in a huge blue tank. we are going to pump the water through into new tank and still use the filter media as this is 3 years old now. So no waiting around for the good germs hehe, I remember when we first got it and had to wait ages before we could buy fish, nightmare

Looks great, will watch this project closely, i cant comment on weight ratio etc, as havent a clue, so good luck with that, have you thought about placing a shelf on the runners, maybe metal or strong wood?<just a thought> maybe its been suggested, just flitted through the pages, hehe lazy.......

I hope this works out for you :good:

one thing, get an inline heater. It will look so much better.

We are getting an external heater ( Tomorrow) that links to the filter, so there will be less on show in the tank. Thanks

Awesome :) that way it can go straight into action :) I know. We all hate cycling but it has to be done for a healthy life for you and the fish  otherwise you end up without any money or any fish :)

I really cannot wait to see this :) Im looking above my fireplace right now and thinking Hmm... haha stop me now before i do it and have no money hahahaha :)

What are you thinking of stocking it with?

We are using the fish we had before,1 cat fish, 2 pleco, 1 Severum, 2 guarammi, 2 foil barbs,1 Paradise fish, Think i may have spelt them wrong???

I would suggest if you are doing something like this, to have a room behind it for all the equiptment etc. And this has taken us about 5 weeks up to now, as my husband works full time so weekends are all he has.

Here is my up to date pic but its only half full at the moment. Hope you like.
